If you'll recall, we've changed up our format a little bit for these posts. Because we've all gotten so used to getting our thoughts down in 140 characters, we're taking the discussion to Twitter! Every Monday, we'll be talking about our Pep Rally question on Twitter and we'd love you to join in. Just keep an eye out for the #MisfitPepRally hashtag!
Happy Monday, Misfiteers!
Let's get real though. It's not a happy Monday. I'm back at school, most people are at work...Mondays are awful.
But you know what's not awful? Book covers! (Most of them.) One of the things I'm most excited about in 2014 is seeing--and revealing--the cover for my debut novel. Before I saw the mockup cover, I spent a lot of time thinking about what I wanted that cover to look like. I knew that in the end I wouldn't have much, if any, control over it, but it was fun to speculate.
Would their be real people on the cover, or would it be drawn by an artist? Maybe there wouldn't be people on the cover at all. Maybe there would be lobsters! Maybe it would be red or blue or all sorts of colors. Maybe it would be font-based. (I love fonts.) There are covers I like that fit in all these different categories, so I knew I could be happy with anything. (Luckily, the team at Greenwillow is amazing, and I'm in love with my mockup cover.)
Talking covers is one of my favorite things, so here's my question for this Monday: If your book was being published (or is being published), what would you like to see in the cover? Tweet it to @YAMisfits with #MisfitPepRally!
