Monday Pep Rally: Firing Up The Reading Mojo

Happy Monday, Misfiteers!

Monday Pep Rally is a weekly feature where the Misfits post a question for you, the reader, to answer. You can answer on your own blog and link in the comments, or just answer here!

I mentioned once on my own blog that I have a kind of reading "disorder" I refer to as Book Bulimia, wherein I "binge" on books like they're some form of super-addictive crack. (Which they kind of are, right?) I keep buying, keep reading, keep obsessing, until for some unknown reason, I lose my reading mojo in one fell swoop and then go long periods of time without picking up another published book.

Confession time: I've been in one of those non-reading droughts for a looong time now.

My brain's been a little fuzzy in general lately, but as the fog is slowly starting to clear, I remembered something VERY IMPORTANT:

BOUNDLESS, the third book in the UNEARTHLY series by Cynthia Hand, CAME OUT LAST MONTH!

Just like that, my reading mojo came back to life. I immediately e-mailed my rep at Harper Collins to see if she could score me a copy - well, right after I finished slapping my head repeatedly and wondering how on Earth I hadn't done so weeks ago.

If you don't know already, I'm going to tell you again: UNEARTHLY and HALLOWED, the first two books in the series, are two of my favorite books *ever.* I've done gushing reviews on my blog, fallen in love with Tucker about sixteen different times, and without giving anything away, cried like a baby at the end of the last book.

And once I read this book, I know what will happen. That familiar spark that comes from the love of a good story will burst into an all-out flame, and I'll once again be devouring books with ravenous fervor.

So, your turn, peeps. Which books on your TBR list are firing up your reading mojo right now? What can't you wait to get your hot little hands on that should also be on the docket for my next book binge?

I've never thought of it like that! Whenever I am having a hard time finding something I enjoy, I usually assume I'm not reading the right books, but maybe it's just the read mojo that's gone. Hmmmm. Now I'm going to have to think about what book might make it come back!

I have the exact same problem. Luckily, I've been on a binge lately, which was brought on by reading Laini Taylor's Daughter of Smoke and Bone a few months ago, which I immediately followed with the sequel. Can't wait for the next one to be released. Why can't it be now?!

It sounds like I have Book Bulimia, too. Right now I'm in a book drought but I just got the Madman's Daughter by Megan Shepherd. I've been waiting for this book for ever it seems like -- I looooooove horror. Tomorrow I'm going to read it and I know I'll go on a YA horror binge.

Hello everyone, my name is Tawney and I too have book bulimia! Whew, I feel better. I have been fired up for One by Leigh Ann Kopans ever since I heard about it. Now I have the pleasure of reading an advance copy and I am so loving it! Super powers and love are a great combination. My Reading Mojo is all fired up!

I *totally* go through droughts but the past month or so has been SO good to me! I LOVED both SOMETHING LIKE NORMAL by Trish Doller and NOBODY BUT US by Kristin Halbrook, and now I'm reading CODE NAME VERITY by Elizabeth Wein, thanks to Misfit Maggie! So, obviously I was excited for that since everyone and her mother's been raving about it. I'm also really excited about finishing E. Lockhart's Ruby Oliver series when the new two books arrive in the mail next month, and I'm really excited to buy and read ELEANOR & PARK by Rainbow Rowell soon! Also, psyched to fiiiiinally read LOLA AND THE BOY NEXT DOOR by Stephanie Perkins when it comes out in paperback in April!
