Band Geek Thursday: Guest Post! Elle's Playlist for AUGURY

I'm excited to share this guest post with you guys! I interviewed the fabulous Elle Beauregard in January and now she's sharing her playlist for her upcoming release, AUGURY! This is a great playlist and I for one cannot wait to get my hands on this book! So without furthur ado, here's Elle's post!

- Jenny

When Jenny asked if I'd like to do a guest post on YA Misfits, I simply couldn't refuse! And I knew exactly what I wanted to post!

Normally, I don't post my playlist for a book until the book is released, but I decided to make an exception in this case: First, it's Valentine's Day, which seems like the perfect day to share a bit about one of my more dynamic couples. And, second, my hope is that by sharing the Augury (Mythologicals Saga | 2) playlist early, I'll turn some new readers on to the series. Or, maybe just introduce somebody to the awesomeness that is the song Iron, by Woodkid. I will deem the post a success in either case!

So, first, the back cover synopsis for Augury, the second book in the Mytholgicals Saga:

Luceam remembers everything: The darkness, the fear, the smell of the vinyl floor. Her mother’s face, her father’s voice. The man who killed them both. And just like her mother before her, she lives in hiding. Only instead of hiding in the dark, Luceam lives hidden in a silent mansion among the only copse of trees on Beta1. No longer willing to live under her caretaker’s heavy hand, Luceam disavows his strict rules to take control of the one and only thing she can.

Cyvin has never been one to ask for help. And heavy with life experience that belies his twenty-four years, he is doing just fine on his own—until he falls to sleep. Plagued by nightmares after the death of his own parents, Cyvin has tried anything and everything to keep from sleeping. But when luck and his routine sleeplessness deliver him the most beautiful woman he’s ever laid eyes on, things begin to change for them both.

As pasts collide, and old villains reappear, will the two of them be able to forge a new future? Or is it true you can’t go back to the comforts of home once you’ve left—or lost—them?

 And here's the playlist:

Augury by Elle Beauregard on Grooveshark

If you only listen to one song, make it Iron by Woodkid--I'm officially obsessed with that song and want to force it on everyone I meet. It might not be everybody's cup of tea, but I love it for its macabre strangeness. Incidentally, that's also what makes it perfect for the Augury playlist! The scene it represents has a definite layer of grease and grit to it.

If you use playlists when you write, do you choose the songs based on the feeling? The words? For me, it's usually a mixture of both. What inspires you to include a specific song?

Thanks for reading everyone!

*Sidenote: you can read Augury before reading the first book in the series (Harbinger,) if you so desire. There would be a few things in Augury that might have less impact if read out of order, but the story will still make sense. The Mythologicals Saga is a generational saga after all--i.e. Harbinger's main character is not the same as that in Augury.
