Monday Pep Rally: Show me the story?

Monday Pep Rally is a weekly feature where the Misfits post a question for you, the reader, to answer. You can answer on your own blog and link in the comments, or just answer here!

Hey Misfiteers!

I am a VERY visual thinker. It's one reason why I love stories that show me their world and characters, but it's also one of the reasons why I love book *trailers* to show the me story. (The other? The music, usually.) More and more books seem to have book trailers, and if done well, they can really draw me in and convince me to buy the story. Ideally RIGHT NOW.

It's true for books I've never heard of. (Yes, I scour YouTube for book trailers every now and then.)

It's true for books I've been dying to read already. Like, give me a TARDIS or an ARC because I. Cannot. Wait. Anymore.

My favorite book trailer is one of those, and as it happens? The trailer reveal is TODAY. So I figured I'd join in with the fun and share this with you, before I want to know all about your favorite book trailers.

Sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride!

The Cadet of Tildor
Dial Books for Young Readers (January 10, 2013)

Tamora Pierce meets George R. R. Martin in this smart, political, medieval fantasy-thriller.
There is a new king on the throne of Tildor. Currents of political unrest sweep the country as two warring crime families seek power, angling to exploit the young Crown's inexperience. At the Academy of Tildor, the training ground for elite soldiers, Cadet Renee de Winter struggles to keep up with her male peers. But when her mentor, a notorious commander recalled from active duty to teach at the Academy, is kidnapped to fight in illegal gladiator games, Renee and her best friend Alec find themselves thrust into a world rife with crime, sorting through a maze of political intrigue, and struggling to resolve what they want, what is legal, and what is right.

About the author: Alex is a YA fantasy author, a Tamora Pierce addict, a horse rider, and paramedic. The latter two tend to hand in hand a bit more often than one would like.
Isn't it fantastic? The music? The amazing cast? EVERYTHING? Meet the trailer cast--Medieval Reenactment Group “Liberi Lusenta” located in Italy--here and add CADET OF TILDOR on Goodreads here!

(Seriously, for all you Tamora Pierce fans out there, this is a book you want! I know I do! *waits for TARDIS to appear*)

Book trailers like these make me LONG for a book, but not just that. They make me want to watch the trailer again and again (and again). I have bought books solely because the book trailer tricked me into it (and while reading I realized werewolves can be pretty awesome). I have used trailer music as inspiration for stories.

And in this case, I just want to stare at the sword fighting over and over again.

So tell me! What's your favorite book trailer (if any!), and why?

I've been ready for this book since I saw it on a WoW post over at Word for Teens - I think it looks so awesome!

That being said - trailers on the whole don't do much for me unless they're wicked-good. Like, Hollywood-production-level good. The kind of production level that most authors don't have the $$ or resources for. It's not terribly fair, but I can't seem to stop myself from nitpicking, so I just generally depend on the descriptions to sell the world and concept to me. Safer for everyone. :)

Doesn't it sound amazing? :D

Yeah, fair enough :) I do expect a decent production level, but I also realize their book trailers, so I don't mind that much. Plus, if done well, they can truly bring the concept alive for me!
