Casual Friday: A Vlog about Books

A vlog in which I share a few thoughts on traditional books vs. digital books.

I love your comment "Maybe it's just me, but I can't imagine a world where we get excited having Grandma's Kindle passed down." I can't imagine it either since e-readers are so impersonal. I have a Nook myself but I'm not attached to it as I am to my physical books. I definitely think physical books and e-books can exist side by side.

My favorite thing about physical books is the fact I can smell the pages and the feel of paper underneath my fingers.

I love the smell of books too! There's the smell in old libraries or book stores. It 's like all the possibilities in those pages create their own perfume :)

For me nothing can replace the feel and smell of a 'real' book. I haven't yet got a kindle but it's on my Christmas wish list. I think and, sincerely hope, both have a place in the modern world.

Good luck with the birth.

I really do love my KIndle. I never would have bought one for myself, but it was a gift and I use it all the time! I read a lot more because of it and it's made critiquing (and edit my own things) much easier. But there isn't the same sensory input that you get from real books ;)

And thanks!

Love this vlog!! You're so adorable ;o) Congrats on the soon-to-be bundle!! I have to admit, I don't really buy real books anymore, but I do like the idea of passing down real books and I love having books with author signatures in them, so as much as it is convenient to have E-books, I definitely think there's a place for paper books too ;o)

Great post!!
